Nigeria suspends Pension Directorate boss, three others

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, on Friday confirmed the indefinite suspension of the Executive Secretary/Director General of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, Nellie Mayshak.
Mrs. Adeosun said Mrs. Mayshak should proceed on immediate suspension along with three senior officials of the directorate.
No reason was given for suspensions.
In her place, a director from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, OAGF, has been appointed as acting Executive Secretary/Director General of the agency.
The Minister described Mrs. Mayshak’s suspension as a normal civil service procedure to pave way for unimpeded investigation into the activities of the directorate under her watch.
She assured pensioners that the suspension of the former Pension Directorate boss would not affect pension payment and services, promising to make public the findings of the investigative panel on the issues that led to the suspension.
PTAD was established in August 2013 under the Pension Reform Act of 2004 to oversee the management of pensions under the defined benefit scheme for pensioners not transiting to the contributory scheme.
